Wintersday is coming!
Starting on December 19th with the finale on January 1, 2014!

(when they post more than just the log in announcement I will update this post).

get ready for some wintersday fun!

Wintersday 2013 discontinued Dwayna Vs Grenth Snowball Fight as an 8-versus-8 automated tournament format.

edit: noticed that if you had already gotten your wintergreen weapon, instead you would receive a wintersday gift in its place. (I watched as the finale ended, had my wintergreen axe from a previous round still in my inventory and when the first wintersday gift was put into my inventory I got 2 gifts instead--watched this 3 times to confirm).

"At Noon Pacific (-8 GMT) on December 19th, the Wintersday festival begins! Enjoy the seasonal quests, delightful drops, special activities, and more! The icy celebration culminates in a final battle of the gods, every three hours, starting at 12:01 AM Pacific on January 1st.

Note that this year, the Dwayna Vs Grenth Snowball Fight as an 8-versus-8 automated tournament format was removed from the event.

A much shorter wintersday with less players and with the Snowball ATs removed 'because these weren't automated yet'. Yay, much fun, wow.

not really shorter---last years was longer, usually they start the thursday before christmas and go to the 2nd (or so) of january. so ~2 weeks

Hm, no automated tournaments, huh? I didn't found them fun but I don't understand that. But as long as they don't remove Snowball Arena, I'm happy.

This will be my first Wintersday for saving the seasonal drops and selling them off season as title points.

Since there was some confusion among my guildies about what was needed for the hat quests, I posted a short blog article giving links and guidance.

This is a game whose business model is based on no monthly fees. The blog piggy-backs off a domain I'm already paying for. We'll see if they even use it.

Quite a bit activity in snowball arena. Played for over 3 hours straight now with little to no waiting times. Tons of fun!

i'm a returning play and i looked at the wiki for wintersday but i am still confused some. we can get old hats we missed with these frozen token things. but do we still get new hats from the dwayna/grenth match up happening today? or was the hat thing a one time thing with those tokens?

Nope, no new hads. Only tokens. Finale will probably give wintersday weapons like last year.

finale is on new years day not today--nothing is going on today and yes, the festivals are the same as last year--you get tokens from a quest which you turn in for a previous years hat. (same for halloween, etc).

Has anyone been lucky enough to get a mini Polar this time?

Estimates are around 1 in 5000 for the quest and around 1 in 500 for the grab-bags right?

I was doing the mpb quest mostly for the cc shards (as there is no real other way to get them in good-ly amounts), and after 20+ runs...no mini has graced me with its presents (hahahahaa

) and both my grab bags netted me sweet points (which I wanted..that was good)

Yeah, I was in district 12 for some time....was nice to see that many people online

got me some nice wintergreens this year too (finally got me a staff!!--wanted it last year).
